Frequently asked questions

Therapy may be new to you or maybe you have had past experiences that make you uncertain of therapy or maybe you have not searched for your own provider before. Here are some questions and answers that will help you navigate this process with ease.

What can I expect from the 15 minute phone consultation?

The purpose of the phone consultation is to help us get a clear sense of what you are needing and looking for. It is also your opportunity to ask us questions to see if we a the right fit for you.

If everything seems like a good fit then we will get you scheduled for your first appointment. You will receive an email with the intake paperwork to be completed through the client portal prior to our first session together. This system is an encrypted electronic medical record software so your information is safe and protected.

I’ve been to therapy before, but it didn’t work. What makes you different from other therapist I’ve been to?

That is a great question! Research supports that the intangible piece for healing to occur is the relationship between the client and the therapist. It is that spark of genuine connection that we have with some people. Each therapist is a unique person too with their own style, vibe, professional and personal experiences.

What happens during the first session?

We will prepare for our first session by reviewing your initial intake paperwork that you completed online. We will have questions to jumpstart the conversation and we will get deeper into your story, your goals for counseling and my approach to counseling. All while we are both getting to know each other so that you can decide if we are the therapists for you.

How often will we meet?

Expect to meet weekly and then as therapy progress and as things start to change for you, we may decide together that less frequently is the best fit for you.

What is the cancellation policy?

We ask for a 24 hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you no show a session you will be charged a full session fee.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost depends on your insurance and the copays specific for your plan or if we do not accept your insurance we offer a cash pay rate of $130 which can be paid through check, debit or credit card.

That’s expensive! Do you offer a sliding scale?

Our fully licensed providers maintain a fixed pricing structure; however, we offer sessions with a student counselor in training at a reduced rate of $40 per session.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, we accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, UMR, United, Optum, Aetna, and Cigna insurance. Keep in mind that your rate may be higher based on whether you have met your deductible for the year or not.
